Bookstore

The BookStore
By Yuka, Haruko, Mari, and Saam

At SBCC we have a great book store which a lot of students visit many times in a day. It is located on the East Campus immediately adjacent to the Earth and Biological Science Building and the Campus Center. They provide many kinds of things in the bookstore. For instance, they sell books, clothing, food and so forth. There are enough books in the bookstore for more than 17,000 students, which is unbelievable --it is hard to provide these many books for every student.
In addition, the bookstore has increased the amount of hours it stays open. In the past there were huge lines on the first 2 weeks of the semester, and the bookstore’s open hours were not long enough; it was from 9 am until 4:30 pm, but now they extend the time until 7 pm which is much longer than before. Besides, another good point about the bookstore is that you can return your books if you drop your class, or after the semester you are able to sell them.
On the other hand, there are some problems related to the bookstore service, which is important for students. Does the staff have some good information? Many students have some questions and want to ask them. Then of course the staff can answer the questions. If they don’t know the information, they have to search it. Also, they need good behavior. A students said, "When I went to the bookstore, I couldn’t find the things I wanted. And I asked a member of the staff, but she just said “I don’t know”, and her attitude was so bad. I felt uncomfortable and I felt I didn’t want to ask them any questions any more." In addition, many students use the bookstore, especially during the first semester. If they don't have many registers they can’t take care of students. And also, it's important that they have a good selection. They have textbooks, pens, notes, novels, CD, foods, clothes and so forth. However, students don't think they have enough novels and food items. If they have more variety of books and food items, they will be better.
In conclusion, the bookstore has some problems like long lines, bad attitude, and not good selection of books. However, there are not only bad points, but also there are good points. For example, we can return books if we drop a class. If they change their problems, they will be better.
